As of 01.05.2009 The Poland –Asia Foundation XXI ST Century will continue its activities only in the form of publishing papers on this website and as a discussion forum . Due to financial constrains all the activities with any financial involvement of the Foundation are suspended. Ladies and Gentleman We are witnessing, at the beginning of the XXI century significant development of the Asian countries participation in new scenarios of international relations. The European countries , including Poland , will address more and more vividly their interest towards the Asian countries . One may notice also increasing interest of that region in the economic expansion and strengthening other forms of its presence in Central Europe ;including Poland. The intention of establishing “The Poland –Asia XXI century Foundation” is to contribute to the preparation of political and economic players in Poland for the increasingly more intensive interaction with the Asian partners. I consider the knowledge and understanding of the origins, understanding and judgements rooted deep in the traditions of Asia ,to be one of the basic elements of preparing Poland for increasing ranges of relations with that continent. Another such an important element , as I believe , is precise stating of expectations of Poland as a state and as a member of the European Union towards the relations with Asia. Asia no longer can be seen as a continent of exotic regions , curiosities and strange rituals. I believe that undertaking an attempt of asiocentric understanding / i.e. taken from the perspective of Asia/ of past and contemporary world environment may considerably contribute to the creation of the future Polish Asian policy. The Foundation starts its activities being strong with the conviction of the importance and usefulness of task undertaken. I believe that our work can make the Foundation a useful instrument in creating the concepts of the Polish Asian policy for the XXI century. I kindly invite you to work with us Yours truly
